Case Study – Mobile Video Platform

Challenge

A Tier-1 vendor, leader in the media streaming and Mobile TV markets involved in the development of mobile video based on new DVB standards
The client wanted to advance the award winning streaming platform to accommodate new delivery technologies and was developing a new set of mobile devices to target the high end market

Our Consultant was tasked to create a team on behalf of the vendor to assure the integration and delivery of this new technology platform
They worked on the definition of basic requirements for the mobile devices to support DVB-H. The mobile devices were touch based on Linux stack
They defined the e2e architecture for the platform and the consultant too leadership of the architecture, development, tests, integration with vendors, and vendors relations
In parallel with the initial target deployment, our consultant needed to produce a number of proof of concepts for specific demonstration both technically and commercially to the industry due to its high visibility
The platform was one of a number of firsts for mobile video delivery under DVB in Portugal, Germany and Finland
Despite the platform technology not being commercially successful, the technology development expanded the client knowledge of the practical issues with delivering mobile video at scale that are now the basis of current OTT IP streaming video platforms
